Being a mom of a toddler, I have to find ways to entertain my very active son. He occupies almost all of my time with playing with his favorite ball, arts and crafts and going to the park. My son, who is three, is fond of Thomas the Tank Engine, a very popular fictional character from a collection of books authored by Rev. Wilbert Awdry. So last year, my husband and I decided to change his drab room with a theme – a train bed themed room!
Because of the popularity of Thomas the Tank Engine, it wasn’t hard for me to go search online for a train bed and train bedding for the themed room. Being a picky toddler, I had to include my little son’s input on my decision to buy a train bed for him. After hours and hours of looking and picking out the right train bed and train bedding for the themed room, we finally decided on buying the Thomas the Tank Engine deluxe bed that included a toy chest and a set of tables and chairs.
Oh boy, after my son’s train bedroom theme was complete, I have spent a lot of quiet afternoons! He would just stay in his room and play with his train sets and pretend that he is driving Thomas along with the other trains around Sodor Island. Now, I can clean the house without ever worrying about my son just watching TV all day.
Aside from the train bed and the train beddings, we also bought him some train themed decorations and accents for his room. Pictures of old trains, high speed trains and an old map that has a train track decked his walls. I also put wallpaper border all round his room that looked like a train track. Funny thing that I saw my son yesterday, he was trying to put this toy trains on the track! He called me out and asked if we could play together and used the tracks around his room. Of course, I obliged.
I am glad that we decided to decorate my son’s room with a train bed theme. I can now sip a cup of tea in the afternoons and put my feet up knowing that my son is happy with his train bed.
